Immediate Supervisor Title:   Billing Manager

 

General Summary:  A nonexempt position responsible for all aspects of the billing process including data entry, coding, payment posting, claims and accounts receivable management.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Import remits
  1. Print Instamed payment summary
  2. Pull EOBS from carrier sites
  3. Run credit cards
  4. Open & sort billing mail
  5. Produce patient statements and do follow up.
    1. Review patient statement report.
    2. W/O small balances.
    3. Send pt refund requests.
    4. Post Insurance and patient payments
    5. Enter charges for office visits, outpatient procedures and inpatient stays.
    6. Check errors and payer rejections in Payerpath/Allscripts
    7. Insurance follow up
    8. Patient collections
    9. Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due. Provide excellent & considerate customer service to patients.

 

 

Education:     High school diploma.

Certified Coder a plus.

Experience:    Previous experience in medical billing, coding and collection activities.

Performance Requirements:

 

Knowledge:

  1. Knowledge of billing procedures for multi-physician specialty practice.
  2. Knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT-4 coding.
  3. Knowledge of third party billing requirements.
  4. Working knowledge of health care billing procedures, documentation and standards.

 

Skills:

  1. Proficient skills in computer programs including medical management software.
  2.  Skill in computer and spreadsheet applications.
  3.  Skill in effective oral and written communication.
  4.  Ability to read, understand and explain insurance EOBs

 

Abilities:

  1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, managers and other staff.
  2. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities

 

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment with emphasis on computer hardware and software as well as telephone communication.

 

Work Environment: Office setting, well lighted, good air quality.
